Mermaids on parade

Recently the local YMCA took over the Aquatic Centre and they have added Aqua Fit classes to what they have on offer...I LOVE it!

I have tried various gym classes but I am hopeless! The whole class goes left and I go right. The whole class jogs on the spot while I am still star jumping my little heart out. The whole class moves as one while I get in quite a tangle....well I am sure you are getting the picture!

This week I am grateful for aqua fit and this is why...
  • I have a whole hour to myself and it's all about me
  • I can't fall over
  • I am exercising (and laughing) with friends
  • No one can see that I am coordinationally challenged
  • It does not matter if it is still over 30 degrees at 6.30pm or it is 70% humidity and only the kind of weather fools go walking in!
and above all else...
  • It is FUN!!!

What has made you feel grateful this week? I hope it has been a good one.

I am joining in with 52 weeks of grateful on Village Voices

  1. Kate, I so agree. Only fools go walking up here in summer..and there are a few about, but I far prefer to go walking in water!

  2. Love it - i am so uncoordinated and fell off the step in a step class more than once - one time leading to an injury that required crutches, bandaging and 10 weeks of recovery (i refuse to try again!)

  4. I have been hearing about this Kate...it sounds great. Much nicer than the gym and more fun than walking in the heat. Good for you!

    1. Thanks Jane. We will see if I can keep it up as the water becomes warmer than the outside air temperature!

  6. I love aqua too - I mean, it's been many, many years since I last treaded water whilst doing the high kick, but it was so much fun!

That's such a cute picture too, Kate.

    1. Thank you!
I did it a long time ago too and had forgotten how much fun it was. I have yet to find another form of exercise that I would so readily admit to being fun!

  9. Nothing better than aqua classes - no one can see the lumps and bumps as they are under the water as well as the feet doing the wrong thing. But isn't it all about just moving - thats my theory anyway,

    1. I think you are right about the moving. Other than the bit between putting your towel down and geting in noone can see. It's a bit like jogging after dark but with no stress to my poor knees etc :)
