An invitation arrived from the lovely and talented Jane from The Shady Baker to attend her annual Flour and Fire at her home. On offer was the chance to learn the basics of sourdough and hands on bread making as well as making beeswax candles with Zara from Zaranne Handmade.

What a wonderful day with great food, new friends and skills, goodies from the swap table and lots of photographic practise under my belt.
Do you wrangle with the manual settings? Do you use your phone? Hands up who remembers the days of film and dodgy school excursion photos when you recorded every detail in wonderful blurry glory!

ReplyDeleteSince you asked...I have been shooting 100% manual for a few years. If ever I switch back to automatic I am disappointed with the bland colours and overall brightness. It is very much trial and error but I constantly tweak my shutter speed and ISO. Occasionally I adjust the aperture. I would love some professional help with nigh time/low light photography. Happy snapping x

ReplyDeleteYou do it so well Jane. Your photos are lovely. I have always had trouble understanding the relationship between the different setting (maths brain!?) but I will persevere. PS if, by support, you mean eating then you are most welcome :P xx

DeleteWhat a fun looking day and the food looks delicious. I need to work on using manual too. I just can't get what I want from it however I think a new camera might help with that.

DeleteI've loved seeing the Flour and Fire day on other's blogs this year and also on Instagram. I was glad to see that photo of everyone with their cameras and phones, I imaged that's what a group of bloggers baking would look like!
ReplyDeleteI've been using my DSLR on manual for over 12 months now and loving it...just the other day I mastered a new technique that had been frustrating me for ages, such a good feeling!
