I have loved her since the late 1990's when I read the first Phryne Fisher novel and I have lived for those Friday nights when Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries were on T.V

The chance to spend a weekend with my mum and visit the  Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries Costume Exhibition at Ayres House was not to be missed...

Night at the Museum

Have you ever felt like you were being watched while you were eating dinner?

I have!

I was lucky enough to be part of a special birthday party recently that was held in the World Mammals gallery of the South Australian Museum. We ate under the gaze of
animals from the regions of Eurasia, Tropical Asia, Africa and the Americas including Miss Siam, an Indian elephant who is over 100 years old. She lived at the Adelaide Zoo and died in 1904.

 It is something really special to be taken on a torch lit guided tour of part of the museum and to then mingle with family and some very old world mammals to enjoy drinks and dinner.

It was certainly a night to remember.

The Long Weekend

We were lucky enough to find ourselves heading for the big smoke for the long weekend and between birthday parties, doing breakfast and catching up, I did a little exploring with my camera...

 I love discovering places I have not seen before, like the Mortlock Wing of the State Library or seeing things in a new light as I did on my early morning walk along the River Torrens.

Ballet, brunch and browsing

Last weekend saw my mum and me on a road trip to Adelaide for a cultural  and cosmopolitan weekend...

We have been planning a trip to the ballet for a couple of years now and it finally arrived.
Graeme Murphy's Romeo and Juliet, presented by the Australian Ballet did not disappoint with spectacular costumes and sets and beautiful music and dancing. Definitely something I would do again! In fact I will be stalking The Australian Ballet with my eye on the next tickets to buy.

Living in a place where there is very limited public transport meant catching the train from the Adeaide Railway Station was an adventure but one well worth having as we got to brunch with a friend in the very cool Queen Street Cafe in Croyden.

Some retail therapy was also in order and despite the long drive I came home feeling physically and culturaly refreshed...
